Joshua
"BE Strong and Courageous...."
Overview
Following the death of Moses, God appoints Joshua, one of the two faithful spies of Exodus, as the leader of Israel. He is commanded to carryout the conquest of Canaan, the Promised Land, by carefully following the commands of Moses. Joshua moves Israel into the Promised Land using courageous leadership following in detail all of the commands of Moses. While Joshua is leading, it is God who is granting and fighting for the success of Israel. Israel conquers the inhabitants of the land with apparent ease. The land is then divided among the tribes based upon the instructions of Moses. The cities of refuge are established and the Levites are also granted portions in various cities. Finally, Israel is called upon to ceremonially state their allegiance to God.
